Alien Abduction Bias as Religion Proxy
A new book by Harvard psychologist Susan Clancy explores the anomalously large number of reported alien abductions within the American populace. More info available here. Thankfully this cognitive bias is not subject to social influences. At least, not yet.

The notion puts me in mind of a classic modern ethnography work, In Advance of the Landing, by Douglas Curran.
